Political Calling Campaigns
During each election cycle, more and more telephone calls are placed to potential voters for a variety of purposes including advocacy, polling, request for donation and ‘get out the vote’ campaigns.
In reaction, legislators have considered and adopted a variety of restrictions on live and prerecorded telephone calls. We have been retained by trade associations to testify before the U.S. Congress on regulation of political prerecorded calls, and track state and federal legislation applicable to all types of political telephone calls.
In December 2007, Copilevitz & Canter partner William Raney testified before Congress on the use of prerecorded political calls.
